Mark Johnson

Mark Johnson is an experienced physician assistant with extensive emergency room and hospitalist experience. His broad-based management experiences provided varied opportunities to conduct fellow clinician chart reviews, offering feedback with educational training and knowledge sharing on best practice standards and principles of documentation that achieve true clinical documentation excellence.
Mark is passionate from a patient healthcare perspective about creating patient documents that "clearly tell and reflect the patient's story.” He prides himself in working with physicians and other clinicians to effectively navigate the EHR and capitalize upon proper appropriate use of smart phrases, templates, and other elements of nonpatient care incorporated into the EHR including Core Measures, MIPS, Clinical Care Bundles, Patient Safety Indicators, and clinical documentation improvement chart queries, that consume an inordinate amount of the clinician’s time away from direct patient care.
According to Mark, "As providers, we are overwhelmed with constant demands of doing more with less. There is a huge need for peer-based feedback in a constructive manner and with a collaborative approach. Too often we are only told what we are doing wrong--we also need to know what we are doing RIGHT. But we also need to know how we can improve and ways to do this. The services provided by Core-CDI are long overdue and a MUST in today's healthcare environment."
Mark's other passions include addressing provider burnout, the ongoing opioid epidemic, improving sepsis care, engaging advanced practice providers in hospital practices, and finding a renewed love of medicine, despite our current tough healthcare environment. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at St. Louis University Physician Program and educates physician assistant students on practical documentation techniques. He is the founder and creator of PA4LIFEcoaching.com and can be reached at leadpajohnson@gmail.com
