Dr. David Rosen

Dr. David Rosen is a physician executive with deep expertise in building and optimizing hospitalist and specialty service lines across multi-hospital systems. He has successfully created seven hospitalist and two pulmonary critical care programs from inception—each time eliminating the need for locums or management companies—while improving length of stay, case mix index, patient throughput, and documentation quality.
He served as the chief architect of the Novant Health–Randolph Health interventional cardiology partnership, expanding community-based cardiac care and opening new strategic growth opportunities in advanced cardiology services. Dr. Rosen has held leadership and medical director roles at Vista Medical Center, Deaconess Health Henderson Hospital, Randolph Health, TJ Samson Community Hospital, the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, and multiple Prisma Health campuses, consistently driving operational performance and clinical excellence.
Board-certified in Internal Medicine, he completed residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and earned his M.D. from Tulane University, along with an M.P.H. from UNC-Chapel Hill. He is the founder of Open Source MD, Inc., providing service line design, staffing strategy, and operational consulting for hospitals and independent physicians. His leadership is defined by strategic insight, systems thinking, and a proven ability to build high-performing physician teams that enhance care delivery and financial outcomes.
