Joseph J McHugh, MD, President, Quality Care Consultants, Dr. McHugh was born and raised in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware, where he majored in biology, he attended Temple University School of Medicine. Upon graduation, he completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

He started his practice in Emergency Medicine immediately after residence. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. Dr. McHugh has practiced Emergency Medicine for thirty-eight years as a full-time Emergency Medicine physician. Other roles held include Emergency Department Director, Occupational Health Director, Physician Advisor and Doylestown Hospital Chairman of the Credentials Committee for twenty years.

He has been the Medical Director for Doylestown Health Hospice since November of 2022 and is currently an active member of the medical staff at Doylestown Hospital. Since December of 2021 he has been a Medical Director for Acentra (Kepro, Imedecs).

Dr. McHugh has a strong interest in Emergency Department Quality Assurance, Physician Documentation and Bedside Emergency Ultrasound. In addition, he has completed numerous projects involving operational assessments of Emergency Department Operations with Recommendations and Implementation of Process Improvement activities to drive ED overall efficiencies and patient satisfaction.
