W. Dennis Young MD, FAAFP, President, Quality Care Consultants, Dr. Young has >35 years’ experience which has included clinical practice, teaching, multiple academic appointments as well as senior management positions in medical practices and managed care settings. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine, a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and experience as a healthcare risk manager.

Dr. Young is President of Quality Care Consultants, and currently serves as a Care Management Medical Director and expert physician consultant for a large national care management and quality improvement organization serving government payers and self-funded clients. He has previously served as the Chief Medical Officer of a large hospitalist practice providing inpatient management services to a major hospital system serving Central Florida.

He has 18 years’ experience serving in the role as both a Senior Medical Director and Market Medical Director (Central and North Florida region) for a prominent national payer, supporting utilization management, quality improvement, provider and facility contracting, accreditation, physician credentialing, pharmacy and therapeutics, and medical technology assessment.

His areas of special interest include: new program development, continuous quality and performance improvement, risk management and patient advocacy.
